Resort-Ready Skin Care Routine

Lorena Miranda- Sonder and Holliday

Our  Prepare for Summer Series Is in full throttle! Your face is your calling card, and we all know how important first impressions are. So baby your skin like you do those Loubies and we promise you will have that  resort-fresh, insta-worthy, #NofillterNeeded skin.

1. Wash, add a little umph, and tone

After washing my face, I love grabbing a cotton pad and  wiping some Son & Park Beauty Water all over. This stuff is clear and adds some nice bounciness to my skin.

After, I tone, religiously. I don't really care for fancy toners. I believe that there are some really effective things in your fridge. I love using an equal parts blend of spring water and Apple Cider Vinegar, my grandmother swore by it and passed away in her 90s with her skin firm and intact. If Apple Cider Vinegar isn't your thing, try some good old fashioned Witch Hazel. Thayers is a cult favorite and about $10 per bottle... you can find it at any local grocery or drug store. (and PS: You can add a few drops of lavender essential oils for an extra ahhhh while you tone)

2. No More Mr. Potato Head!

Sugar, carbs, alcohol, late nights, and all of life's perks really take a toll on your skin, especially because just like your belly, your face bloats too.

My favorite beauty tools of all time: The Face Roller and Gua Sha. Not only to they feel good, but they really get rid of all the puffiness and bring my face back to normal proportions (OMG I can see my cheekbones again!).

To start, leave in the fridge while you wash, tone, and do all the other things, but please make sure it is washed, you don't want to roll grime on to your face nor stick a dirty roller in your fridge.

After you've applied your serum and moisturizer, get your roller and roll the larger side upwards from your chin to your temple with a little bit of pressure. You really want to feel like your face is getting that much needed deep tissue massage. Use the smaller side for your eye and eye contour area. You can do the same with the Gua sha, except with this tool, I like to follow my jawline and really get in there with product.

All of these expensive lotions and serums... you want to make sure your skin eats them up. These tools work like magic! Plus, it just feels damn good! So even if all the hype is crap.. who cares.. It feels amazing!

3. Restore, Hydrate, Pamper, Protect

Nothing says good health like healthy skin on a bright face.  My go to favorite for that extra serving of nutrients and fatty acid for my skin is Rosehip Oil. I can't get enough of this stuff, plus it is super cheap! After I wash and tone, my next step is the Rosehip Oil. I apply the serum before my moisturizer. As soon as I apply it, I use my rose quartz roller for about 3 minutes. I follow up with a La Mer Revitalizing mask, which directions for the product says to put a generous amounts, leave for 8 minutes then wipe off excess and pat rest into skin. Well at $170 per tube, nothing is getting wiped off. So instead I just put a small amount all over, from forehead to my chest. I follow that up with my moisturizer, which is the La Mer soft lotion and then roll that on for a few minutes as well. Once everything is settled into the skin, I protect.

Like a fierce mama bear, I protect my skin like my baby cub. In my last and final step, I slather  SPF on my entire face, neck, chest, and back of hands (and don't forget the side of your neck too!). I love Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Daily Facial Sunscreen.

4. All About the Eyes

Eyes are windows to the soul, as they say. So keeping them bright and wrinkle-free makes for a beautiful entrance to the powers of your gaze. Estee Lauder's Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Regenerating Youth Eye is a fabulous eye cream that glides easy and absorbs quickly. I love using it with an eye cream applicator because it it smooth and doesn't tug at the sensitive eye area skin. Under the eye all the way around to the temple and above the eyebrow a few times. Not only does it feel great, but it helps your super delicate eye skin get all the goodies in the cream.
